If you own a business in the MD/DC/VA area, you’ve probably been getting harassed by your local Idearc sales rep(s) about renewing your ad (or placing an ad) in the 2009 Montgomery County Yellow Page book. If you are an advertiser, you’ve probably already signed off on and approved your (new) ad, but there is still time to change it.
Why should you care?
If you have been tracking the performance of your Yellow Page advertising and are still seeing results enough to justify continued advertising, then you can stop reading now. BUT if you are a local business owner and you are running ads in the Yellow Pages – ads with your main phone number and website in them - PLEASE pause for a moment and consider this:
For a nominal fee (<$100 per month) you could put in place a system that:
- Accurately measures the responses generated by your Yellow Page ad(s)
- Identifies previously missed calls and leads
- Measures the quality of the leads you are receiving – both web and phone
If you are paying less than $500 per month for your ad, perhaps you don’t think it is worth it to pay 10-20% of your ad costs to track the results produced by your ad. We’d argue that it would still be worth it because doing so, even for just a few months, could save you thousands in otherwise wasted ad dollars.
If you are running larger ads in Yellow Pages, it is imperative that you implement this system - the previously missed leads alone that are captured will be worth the additional cost.
There is still time – September 4th is the soft deadline and you can actually make changes to your ad(s) even beyond that. If you are interested in learning more or getting a demo of the system, visit our website and drop us a line.

Yellow Book charges $15 per month to track your ad; why pay “less than $100″?

The $15 tracking that you get is FAR from adequate or accurate.
But even this is preferable if the alternative is not tracking at all.

I completely agree with spending a little money to learn what is *really* working. Please explain why your tracking system is superior to the YP option. If I like the answer I will call you on Tuesday and sign us up.
